Since Patrick has been around...

I really enjoy nearly every aspect of the HBD season, even when I'm not in the playoffs I enjoy watching the other teams try to win. Except for ST. Its just so boring, and pointless and is such a gaping hole in the HBD season. You have a great offseason, assemble a team that you're really excited about... then you get to sit around for a week doing nothing but hoping your star pitcher's arm doesn't fall off while you wait for Opening Day.

I would really like it to be shortened to maybe 3 days, or introduce some kind of mechanic that makes ST interesting and/or relevant.

How do you propose new players learn to play the game? Or should there not be any practice?

+1+1+1+1+1

Spring training, as it is right now, blows.

I like the week to regroup.   An in-season vacation.

Tuft, I don't really think ST helps new players learn the game. I propose they learn the game by getting mentors, posting in the forums and reading as much as they can in the forums; which is what I always suggest new players do.

And I'm not opposed to keeping ST one week long, it should just be made relevant or interesting somehow.

Or if they decide to keep it  pointless and boring, they should at least shorten it. Maybe take the time they shorten ST and make the 2nd round of the playoffs a best of seven instead of five. That way the season is still the same length. (Heard that idea from mal in Hobbs. Thought it was a good one and relevant to this discussion. But credit to him, not me)

I'm just opposed to ST staying long AND pointless. It would really be better if it was just one or the other instead of both.

"Spring training, as it is right now, blows."

Very succinctly put tec. Couldn't agree more.

I've suggested this before but intrasquad games would work.    New owners could learn the game playing against themselves and the rest of us could experiment(How bad would this guy be in LF over 18 games?).     You'd also get double the AB/IP for your prospects if that's your thing.

I know how I treat ST.  I promote as many guys as I can, start a bunch of my rookies and let it coast.  I may come in to get more rookies at bats because I am bored, but as far as my ML team goes - it's useless.

The easiest way to make it interesting?  A cash prize for the "Spring Training Champion"
