Which Big Man is Better? Topic

At the DII level which of these guys would you rather have?

Option A:
ATH - 93
SPD - 10
REB - 79
DEF - 82
SB - 59
LP - 98
PER - 32
BH - 30
PASS - 1
Stam - 87
FT - 80%

Very slow and very bad passer

Option B:
ATH - 75
SPD - 33
REB - 73
DEF - 75
SB - 54
LP - 82
PER - 49
BH - 40
PASS - 20
Stam - 81
FT - 65%

This guy is pretty solid all around, not very good at FT like the Option A.

Number 1 and it isn't close.

#1 by about 10000%

What he said.

spd and passing are all but irrelevant for centers

Ok thanks, I thought A was better but didnt think it was a huge diff. But if spd and pass dont really matter then yeah he is alot.

(this is assuming good/reasonably good WE, correct?)

I'd take option A at D1, you might have a problem getting that guy.

I can't agree with this comment but I will say #1 is a superior player to #2.

I'll expand the comment then and see if it works better for you

spd and passing are all but irrelevant for centers if their cores are very good to exceptional, as #1's will be. spd and passing can be a nice bonus for a center, but are far from important. I recently had a D 1 center with 13 spd get drafted in the lottery.

Both players are good especially for d2 they honestly look like d1 recruits. But option A is far superior in core values a big would need. He even shoots better FT % and he's a player who will definitely draw many fouls. His only knock is 1 passing vs a 20 passer. Not a big deal there.

I agree with the sentiment expressed by fatchance - I think speed and passing are very nice in post players, and I think saying they are "all but irrelevant for centers if their cores are very good" is a misstatement.  That said, they are close to being tiebreakers than impact ratings for post guys.  Their importance is also heavily system dependent.  If you gave an extra 8-10 points of ATH to player #2 and 10% FT shooting it would be close, as it is it's #1 by a reasonably wide margin.  Of course, whichever you can successfully secure against D1 schools would be an incredibly successful D2 player.

Was able to get player A (player B eventually went to a SIM) by pulling him down. No other teams went after him. Through the scouting visits I found he will eventually be at least:

ATH - 93
SPD - 8 right now and low potential
REB - 87
DEF - 90
SB - 59
LP - 98
PER - 32
BH - 30
PASS - 1
Stam - 85
FT - 80%

Solid recruit, I must say.

he is ridiculously good. he could compete in any conference in d1 even. and i agree, he is way better than #2.

if you arent pressing, its at least 5 points of ath for 1 point of speed for an offensive minded big, and probably more. and probably at least 10 to 1 on passing, maybe 20 to 1. same with bh. sb maters but outside of zone i place it far behind ath, reb, and def, and in zone, i just don't know what the hell i am doing so i am reluctant to say.
