I can't understand what int'l recruits are saying Topic

After getting a scholarship email saying I was losing, I put in more effort and got this:

"I much like Alabama.  I close make decision but I need time more think about basket in USA."

Am I winning?  Losing?  Is this the equivalent of the "Alabama sounds good, but my cousin plays ball in Argentina blah blah blah" email that means you're still losing?  I have no idea what the hell this means.

Anybody? :)

My assumption is you are either barely winning or barely losing.  Unless you are sure, I would put in some more effort.

You're winning, but just barely.

Is this for sure?  Can anyone confirm?

What, my word isn't good enough?  I recruit international players all the time, why would any other coaches answer be any better than mine?  If you want 100%, for sure confirmation, send a ticket to CS.  Damn, you try to offer a guy some help and he basically s**** on you.  Appreciate that.  Really.  Best of luck getting your player.

***Edit***  Just checked.  On the six teams I'm currently coaching, I have 10 international players that I've signed.  But I probably don't know what I'm talking about.  Better confirm it with someone else.

You're probably right and I probably overreacted.  Should I log on under my other ID and confirm it?  Who would know the difference, ha ha?

Or what if I logged on under my other ID and said the first answer was totally off base.  That would REALLY get him wondering, huh?

Jeff, you can get another coach to confirm it if you'd like, but in all seriousness, you're leading.  But not by much.

Lol yeah, if there's one guy I wouldn't question, it'd be Eric...he's a real stand up dude...by asking for further confirmation, the guy is undermining the "assistance" that's already been given

In my best international speak..."All your league are belong to us!"

Geez, I just wanted to make sure!  I totally trust you, emy, but then again I usually totally trust myself, and yet have been having the hardest time making sense of a lot of these responses lately.  That's all.  The help is completely and utterly appreciated!

I get how he's as much of an expert on international recruits as there is here, but the OP doesn't necessarily know that. And if you were to ask a question and only one person were to respond, would you not want a few more opinions?

I had a situation in which a recruit told me something that indicated that I was definitely ahead in a battle, yet a conference mate of mine sitemailed me and told me of an occurrence where someone else got the same message and lost the recruit with no updated scholarship message. The responses I got in the thread regarding the issue were different. More voices = a good thing.

Asking for more opinions should be expected, and he is far from "undermining" any assistance that he was already given.

I don't read recruit messages, if I see "Considering Us", I know I'm good.
6/15/2012 4:49 PM
Yeah, that doesn't work the same way in D1 when there are more battles to deal with...

Sorry Jeff, I was having a particularly bad moment at work and posted that when I was upset.  Should have taken a deep breath and calmed down first.  Apologies for coming off like an ***, it was definitely uncalled for from my end.

And Colonels, thanks for the compliment, it's really appreciated.  Sincerely.  Only issue I have with your post is that it's Erik with a "k", not a "c".  Don't worry though, my own grandmother spelled my name wrong for the first twenty-one years of my life!
