Injuries and promised minutes Topic

Got a player I promised minutes to, he managed to hurt himself badly enough he's only played 8 of 15 games. He was well in the comfort zone of his promised minutes until his injury, now he's complaining about minutes played? I put him back in the lineup last game and he was still hurt enough he didn't play.

As a coach, I want to say "If you are injured, that's on you, not me... When you're healthy you're getting all your minutes and more".

Anyone know if this is by design? That just seems wrong for a player to get injured then complain about minutes when he can't even play.

I think the dividing line is 60%. If he's 60% healthy he needs to get his promised minutes/starts in order for him to be happy.

If he was in your lineup, but didn't play, make sure you don't have him set to 'rested'

there has been some discussion about whether it is right to have 60% as the trigger.  I think that 60% is the level at which the game will ALLOW him to play, although often that is not the smart move.

In a thread about a year ago seble said - I'm paraphrasing from recollection - that right now the programming does not have the capability to ALLOW a guy to come back at one % and have a different % at the level at which it would start to count against his minutes/starts expectations.

A number of posters then urged that it should be something like ALLOW him back at 60% but not count against expectations until say 80% or some number like that.

At least for now, that is NOT how it works - one threshold.

Overall stinks, but if it is a limitation, it is a limitation. I would have rather not played this guy until 80%, but had I known about the 60% thresh hold, I probably would have played him. He's angry about missed starts and missed minutes now, so will have to cross my fingers I can save face with him before the year is out. He went from +2 WE before his injury to -14 WE now.
