RPI vs. Projection Report Topic

Still got a few games left in the regular season, but my E. Stroudsburg U. team in Iba currently has an RPI of 42, but I am listed as the No. 82 team and "out" on the Postseason Projection Report.

Thoughts?

2 - 4 against top 100,  9 - 3 against 100 or lower.

Losses to 157 and 125.   Projection report has it right at the moment, unless the RPI's of some of your opponents improves a bit.

thoughts (with no offense intended)
  1. you better win your CT
  2. beat someone good if you want a better projection (last 2 games are nice, not nearly enough)
  3. you don't have anyone good left on the schedule to beat (see #1)

Billy, unlike the old days, RPI in and of itself does not carry nearly the weight it did before.  As you know, it used to be that if you could get your RPI into the 40's or below that you were pretty much a lock for the NT.  Now, a team actually has to have some quality wins on their resume to get that bid.  It's not perfect, but it's much, much better than it was before.

+1

I think avoiding double digit losses is very important. I believe winning % must play a role. You have 7 losses, which is not good. If you finish the season with 7 losses, you'd be OK but I don't see that occurring.

Yea, I don't necessarily believe this to be a NT team (nor did I think it would be before the season with only 1 SR), just thought the large disparity was strange. I'm an old fart in the world of HD, so I don't care much for all these things they keep adding (like the projection report).

My assumption is that the Projection Report is far more indicative of my chances of making the NT (hence the name), correct?

By the way, my RPI jumped up to No. 37 and my projection report to 78 and "Bubble"

Correct.  You can even determine your seeding 'to date' by looking at the projection report.

In your case, however, with a 78, you'd need to win the CT and would likely be a #16 seed

this is a good example of the intended change when they revised the seeding approach and introduced the projection report - before that change rpi was dominant and that team would have had a good chance of a bid - under the new system, it is uphill in this circumstance

For the record, I'm at RPI of 35 and Projection Report of 75.

Definitely going to need to win the CT. Rest of my schedule is not pretty.
