Goldstein gives you a better chance for a HR or sac fly, which does nothing for you in that situation. The homer helps, but you would still be down by 1 with 5 outs left and nobody on.
Dykstra has much better contact and an excellent eye, so he was much more likely to single or walk. He's also better against righties and, as you said, he's in your hierarchy. I believe, the way the sim sees it, what you really need in that situation is another base runner. Or simply a guy who has a lesser chance of getting out, and that's Dykstra.
