how much is proximity preference worth Topic

This is in reference to a DII player and 2 DII schools.

I ask this because I have a recruit who is local to my school (80 miles i think) but has a preference for far from home. I've had the lead on this player, but would like to remove the sim opponent on him who is over 2000 miles away and was in a conference where only 1 team made a run in the NT. I've had this lead since about 5 k in, but at almost 11k, I still can't get the sim off of him.

The second question is how much do sims normally put into a player. This sim has 4 open scholarships and 3 recruits considering them. For me to have 11k on this guy and the sim is over 2000 miles away, it seems I should have knocked him off by now as this would be an extremely costly recruit for a sim, especially considering how much I've put in for him to match. Plus the sim had to put more money into his other 2 recruits.

Anyways, it just makes me wonder because unless the sim put a full 20k into this guy (which still would not be equal to my efforts because of the distance), I would imagine this guy would have stopped considering sim already and the only factor in play I can think of is the proximity preference.

I think one thing to keep in mind is that the 2000 mile distance isn't a factor for the sim. I believe sims recruit independent of distance.

From the FAQ:

Q: Do AI-controlled teams recruit like humans?
A: AI schools identify their primary and backup targets like humans, but the do all of their recruiting just before the official start to recruiting (which is also why you may see recruits already considering schools when recruiting begins). Also, AI-controlled schools recruiting efforts are the equivalent to being roughly 200 miles from the recruit regardless of actual distance.

So, really, the sim benefits from both in this instance. It pays for recruiting effort as though it is only ~200 miles from the recruit, but gets the benefit (a small one, I think) from actually being "far from home."

Some where in the forum topics there are 2 or 3 threads that say, regardless of actual distance SIM's recruit at 250 miles equivalent. Their cost  to recruit is based on the 250. Now that I think about It there may be info in the FAO's or game instructions. Sorry I can't pin point it.

Thanks guys. I knew sim got their recruiting in prior to the start, but I did not know about the distance thing. So frustrating, this much money against another user and the opposition would be gone already.
