How to maximize the innings from this guy? Topic

Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Tim Klingenbeck

Since his DUR/STA is 33/50, he looks like a great candidate for a Long A slot. He's also my best reliever so I'd like to see him get used in Setup A situations. Basically, I want him to be the first guy out of the pen in a close game, no matter how many innings are left. Any idea how to set up my staff settings to accomplish that?

Some would tandem A/B him, I'd start him, 70-75 pitches.

Start him.  Use 60-65 to start and adjust.  Or just bring him back every 4th day.

Mike likes to underuse pitchers.

Id start him in a heart beat unless you have 4 better starters.

Setup A, 35-45 pitches, to minimize in-game fatigue.  He pitches about 120 innings a year in that role, the 7-8 innings in every close game you have that isn't back to back with another close game. Better than the roughly 140 innings of slightly lower quality and leverage you'll get if you start him.

dedel used Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Arthur Relaford as a SuA.  I use him as a SP.  dedel got 120 IP from him, I get 170.   Very similar production except for the extra 50 innings.

Starter; you know you are getting X amount of innings, save for injury

Reliever; you are at the mercy of the simulation.

Start him.

Start, 95-100 pitches.

(1) I was a bonehead here, never got the pitch count right to start Relaford.  (2) In Relaford's case, the leverage for a SuA probably makes up for the 120 -170 difference here in terms of impact.  (3) This guy is NOT Arthur Relaford; he's high DUR/low ST, not the other way around.

My point was that SuA will leave innings on the table.   You're a successful owner but I think you screwed up with Relaford.   I think using Klingenbeck at SuA would be a mistake.  IF a pitcher can start, he probably should.    Assuming he's one of your best.
