With my last team a week or two ago, I attempted to recruit a guy one level above mine.

Called his coach and the coach said I was chasing something I'll never get.

A couple of cycles later, the player, who is considering no one at all, sends me a message saying he was more concerned with prestige but wants to make sure he'll get playing time and is interested in playing for me now.

I sent him a scouting trip and a scholarship offer and that's all it took to get him.

I was thining about this today and wondered how I went from having no shot at all to signing the guy relatively easily. Has this happened to anyone else?

can you post the exact message? there are some bugs in recruiting, i doubt its just one, but would be good to know for sure that this is another. its not supposed to happen, strictly speaking, but im losing confidence daily in recruiting messages meaning what they used to.

Last cycle in Smith a guy told me "Thanks for the call coach, but I don't think Occidental is the school for me." He dropped the next day without even sending me a message that he had dropped. I signed him. Kid is gonna be a beast. Let's hear it for bugs!!!

jsajsa, what do you mean "he dropped the next day without even sending me a message that he had dropped". What does "dropping" mean?

Dropping simply means when a player falls from the level above you to your level. If you have called the player beforehand and he gave you a backup message, he will tell you when he has "dropped" and that you can then recruit him.

thanks! i really meant the first message though, the one where he said no way. a couple of those can be misleading at times, just wanted to verify it was in fact a "no way" message.
