Was just glancing at the player rankings for Iba D1.

I'm a D3 kind of guy, so it got me thinking: What kind of numbers would one of these D1, 930+ beasts put up in D3?

Obviously, scoring would depend on distro. But I wonder if the other numbers would be on the high end of plausible (say, 15 boards, 4 blocks, 3 steals) or just beyond believable.

Has anyone experimented (say, by pulling down a potential machine who ended up in the 800s).

I remember a guy who coached at Miami (FL) used to play terrible D3 teams in exhibitions a few seasons back with a player rated above 1100. He scored something like 56 in 20 minutes.

When WIS first started HD, players were rated a lot higher (on average) than they are now, at least in Wooden where I played the first 23 seasons before stopping there.

I remember DI recruits regularly started out in the 1100s in ratings and progressed to the point by the time they were seniors the best were nearly 100 rated in most categories.

Now of course that isn't the case. Those players then didn't put up as fantastic of numbers, though, because there were more of them than just a few.

I doubt it would be possible to pull down someone of that caliber to DII, let alone DIII.

There was a guy once (again, back in the day when HD first started) who gave booster gifts to DI recruits and dropped 12 of them to DIII only to have all 12 be suspended before the season even began, thus ruining his grand experiment (no, it wasn't me, but he played in my conference). It was easy to beat his team of 12 walk ons, but other than that, no idea how those guys would have actually played if they'd been able to.

We could find out by having a top D1 team schedule a terrible D2 simai (which is like a D3 team) in exhibition. I don't think D1 can straight out schedule D3 for exhibition, but I could be wrong.

Well, D3 can schedule D1 for exhibition.

If a top D1 team wants to try it and see what it can do, I'd be happy to face them in Tark (I have D3 Hamline) next season. If for some reason D1 cannot schedule D3, let me know and I will initiate the game.

I'm sitting here at knight in DIII New York City Tech, and I would also be willing to throw someones D1 team in my exhibition schedule if anyone wants to try it out.
