Can anyone help with interpretation, most recently I received this:

"I hope that you have enough faith to wait for me to visit some other schools- they really have made their programs sound great and to be honest, I'm not sure where I'll be next year."

before that I received this:

"It would be an honor to play for you, but I'd also be honored to play for a couple of other schools too.  I'm sorry, I just need more time."

did you send any effort between them?

I think you are slightly behind. 

Actually I now think you are slightly ahead with the first message, was slightly behind with the 2nd message.

I think the 2nd message I received meant I had fallen behind, the updated FSS at 2:49am says "definitely leaning towards playing at" the other guy

Or they could both be you are behind. I'm very confident that "I hope that you have enough faith to wait for me to visit some other schools- they really have made their programs sound great and to be honest, I'm not sure where I'll be next year." means you are behind.

I was under the impression we only receive scholarship update e-mails when something changes, either ahead to behind or behind to ahead, is that not true?

I don't think that's true. You get updates on various stages depending on how far ahead/behind you are.

that is not true. its a common misconception though. the reality is there are several levels, i believe there are as many as 3 levels of ahead (slightly, moderately, by a lot) and 3 levels of behind, and a tied. that would be 7 levels, or maybe there are just 5, or i guess there could even be 6 or 8. i never took the time to chart it out enough to be sure - but my money is on 7 levels. anyway, regardless of the # of levels, this is the part i am sure about - any time you switch levels, you get a message. so you could be slightly behind, then fall far behind, and you get a message. or you could be way ahead, and then slightly ahead, and you get a message.

Billyg is right, which is why I think both message are behind. I think "It would be an honor" is slightly behind (possibly slightly ahead, not sure), while "I hope you have faith" is definitely behind.
