Player assignment question Topic

We're in ST. Signed a player that I want on my ML roster. My 40 is full, so I am clearing space. He's been a MLer for a while but has 2 options. Can I assign him to AAA while I wait for the spot on the 40 to open up without taking a ratings hit? Jerome Daniels

I would assume he won't take a hit, but I would also assume that you have some 40-man guy you can just release (we all do).......if you're worried about the hit.

Clark for example. It is unlikely you'll bring him up again. Rodriguez isn't coming up. Husky is crap. Martin is worse. Scheffer gets bombed at MLB. Hannity = junk.

Man, just release one of those guys. Or all of them.

You would run the risk of a ratings hit if you assigned that new FA to AAA. You also don't want him to sit unassigned. Take moe's advice and clear some dead weight off the 40 and put that guy in ML. You don't even have to release them if you need them to fill out a roster. Just designate for assignment with waivers. If they get claimed, you lose them but don't have to pay. If they don't get claimed, you have them for AAA depth without eating a spot on the 40.

Yep, designate Hannity. He has no business being on a 40 man roster

I agree that all of those guy don't belong on the 40. I took over a mid-season train wreck from a NOOB with some very bad contracts that I am letting run their course. I waived a lot of those guys last year with no takers(guess no one was that dumb). No sense in just releasing them since I'll be stuck for the $$ either way, so they'll be MiL fodder til their contracts run out.
