I just recruited a post player with the following ratings:

Ath - 62, high
Spd - 11, avg
Reb - 61, high
Def - 42, high
BLK - 59, avg
LP - 67, low
Per - 14, avg
BH - 1, low
Pass - 1, low
STM - 54, high
Dur - 63, low
FT - 65.1%. avg
WE - 37

He'll be my starting center right off the bat (I only have 1 returning post, who will play PF due to higher BH/P).  I want to recruit another post who will back up both guys this year but starting in 2 seasons will play 2 seasons along side Kline (above).  Projected ratings are as follows:
  1 2 3
Ath 80 55 50
Spd 35 50 55
Reb 90 90 60
Def 80 45 75
SB 80 60 50
LP 30 55 90
Per 40 20 50
BH 25 40 55
Pass 45 50 55
Stam 85 85 85
FT% 68 62 70

Who would you put first?  I'd imagine guy #2 is in last place, at least from my perspective.  #1 looks like the best player, but #3 might be the best compliment to the guy I already have.  Thoughts?

1,3,2

1,3,2 also.  2's ATH/DEF makes him unplayable next to the others.

1 has 60 ATH/REB points on 3, and with that combination he'll account for enough of the points you might be losing by not taking 3.  I might reconsider if I had a very good rebounding SF in hand - for that matter, #3 could conceivably be that guy.  Or at least back up the position.

If it matters the team plays triangle/press.

Yeah, I just looked.  Should have done that prior.  That closes the gap some.  Now I'm on the fence.

ETA: I still take 1 but it's closer.

ReETA: But less close than I first thought when I saw the off/def.  I was a dummy for being on the fence, I think.

1 and then it's not even close to 3 and then 2 even playing the press.
9/6/2012 8:51 PM
When you say it's not even close are you considering that 1 is virtually a clone of the guy I already signed but with even less offense?  I mean that as an honest question.  Do you really think that 1 is so much better than 3 that the fact that 1 and Kline aren't an ideal pairing is easily outweighed?  Or were you just saying in a vacuum?

That's my problem.  1 is the best player, but 3 looks like a much better complement to the other guy whoever I go after is going to spend 3 years playing alongside.

not with that 50 ath he doesn't - not to me... not even close.

ETA: the first guy ought to have enough offense to make the front court respectable even with the high LP of #3 (which I don't think would be as effective with that 50 ath anyway)

i think you should cut kline and not sign a second big, and then drop your team in that world :O

I'll bet you do...  I had a bigger lead than I thought, he signed right at the start of signings.

This was my first instinct also.  If it were me, 1 would be my choice, fairly easily.

With respect to the original question, does it change anything if I throw a wrench in things and mention that both #1 and #3 are ineligibles?  And that I could really use another post player this season?

If you really MUST have a post player this season, then you're kind of stuck with number 2, right?  Not being sarcastic, but he's the only one who can play and if you're really, REALLY desperate, then.......

But, if you can get by for a season, I still say take number 1.  Shame you can't cut someone and take 1 for the future and 2 to fill in a gap this season.

Edit**--I see signings have started, so much for cutting anyone.  Man, if it was me, I would have shown Randall Overall the door and signed two of those three.  That's just my opinion though.

i pulled his ship and tossed on a redshirt. come to think of it, not sure why... i started doing it a while back, the cycle before signings, as a "gentlemans move". but that was when i was in a battle with someone the whole way, or if i jumped on late, and knew i was out of gas, but the other coach might not know... that way they could lock the guy up and spend the rest of their money elsewhere. not sure why id do it when someone else jumped on late. oh well.

I didn't really jump on late.  I sent him a couple of HVs and a scholarship on the first cycle but it was way behind.  Just didn't catch up until day 2.  But I see what you mean.
