2nd tier draft picks. Topic

Our draft is coming up next week.  We have two of the best prospects I've ever seen and then another franchse bat, plus 2 or 3 Ace types. It is rich at the top.  But the 2nd tier, at least with my $16M/$16M Scouting is sketchy.

I have the 20th and 30th picks.

I have these SS/2B/3B types in my 2nd tier, from 11-20.  How would you rank them?

In no particular order, here they are:

TurkBailey  :  He's a Mark Belanger/early Ozzie SMith type, complete glove first SS.  Glove projects to 98/97/92/93 but bat is 91/39/20/33/45  He's getting 30 + plays a year and winning a ton of GG's, but not hitting squat.

ToddHollowell  :  Projects to a 90/89/100/96 glove at SS.  He has a decent SS bat:  52/65/76/59/55

DanAllen  :  2B/CF glove:  82/84/53/64  Only OK with the bat:  70/48/71/71/74

LukeMarkakis:  3B/2B glove of 76/76/76/81  Bat of 69/75/69/62/47

JamieCairncross  :  a tweener who would  survive at SS.  88/99/83/80  and 61/51/73/71/56

I have a couple of decent  #4 starters between 11-20 as well, one OK catcher, and a probable set-up guy with 92 Stamina and 80+ splits (with decent pitches) but only 14 Durability.

My (overpaid)scouts see a real weak 2nd tier.  But how would you rank those IF types above?

mtd-- without current ratings I can't give you actual advice on your draft.  But, assuming your scouts are perfect, and assuming none of the 5 can steal bases, and assuming durability, health, and signability are not issues--

Hollowell-- an excellent player.  If your scouts weren't on ecstasy when they saw him (and they probably were) he won't fall to 20.  He's so much better than the others I'm a little uncertain why you're even asking this question.
Allen-- average starting 2B, would be a nice get at 20 imo.  Lots of players with this shape also have 90+ speed and 70+ BR; does Allen?
Markakis--just a little worse than Allen, different shape for his offense.  Might take him ahead of Allen if I played in a bandbox, would take Allen first in SYR.
Cairncross-- an OK starting SS in my book, similar in caliber to Allen and Markakis.
Bailey-- marginally rosterable, 25th man on the right team, much worse than the other 4.

Key thing--  Hollowell > > > Allen/Markakis/Cairncross > > > Bailey.

I agree about Hollowell being the stud of the group, but I too would be surprised if he makes it to 20. The other 4 are fairly equal in my book, according to their speed, base running, the park your in, etc. I wouldn't be afraid of Baily in the right situation with his glove and ability to make contact...
