A few seasons ago, my first coaching in this simulation, I took over Wisconsin Eau Claire. I had a pretty horrible team and was getting beaten every step of the way. I posted in the forums, asking if I'd ever win a game as I was something like 0-16 at the time. I also remember thinking that I had messed up badly with my first recruiting class, as everything I read said the way to build was through dropdowns, and I had recruited my guys all through the D3 ranks, a class that included some guy by the name of Thomas McLouth.

I also remember the kind words and helpful advice I received through these same boards from all of you, telling me not to despair, and that things would get better. I would like to thank you all for your help, and I feel like I learn more every time I read through these forums. I realize I have a long way to go to get where those like alblack, dahsdebater, etc are, but feel I am making progress with my little team. 31-0, in the Sweet 16, just saw I had the D3 National Player of the Year with Mr. McClouth. I know it doesn't mean much, but still pretty cool to have a guy I battled for in recruiting end up receiving that honor, given all the great players I know there must be in the Heartland. Tonight, I play a team from the Heartland, and I suspect I'll get crushed by the superior team, but maybe McLouth, Grant, and company can put a little scare for a half. Again, I would like to thank you all for your advice and assurances that the struggles I experienced could be overcome, and not to give up hope. Once again, it appears you were right...

Congrats! - and I would take McClouth on a D3 team in a heartbeat!

As you've probably come to realize, you do not have to fill a team with nothing but dropdowns.  There are plenty of good options out there as long as you're willing to look.  I'd say half of my team is straight from the D3 ranks in any given year.

And as others have said, congrats!  30+ wins is a great season by anyone's standard.
