Too guard dominant?? Topic

I tend to notice that no matter how good my post players are, no matter which offense I run, my SG always takes way too many shots vs his distro numbers (this goes for all of my teams at both D1 and D2). 

I took a look at just Iba and Tark's top 25 scorers for D1 and D2.  (not enough time right now to do more)

In Tark, of the top 25 D1 scorers, there are 9PG, 8SG, 6SF, 1Pf and 1C.  D2 has 2PF and 2C out of the top 25

In Iba, there are 10PG, 10SG, 3SF, 2PF and ZERO C in the top 25.  D2 has 1PF and 1C.

why is this?  are all of the offenses just set up to feature guards to the detriment of big men??  I don't see that many people playing a zone, so big men should be able to score as well as anyone else.    anyone else think this is a problem??

I agree that something is amiss.  While I'm sure most coaches are putting more distribution to their guards than their bigs, I believe that's more symptom than cause.  I do believe that it's more difficult to get scoring out of bigs, relative to littles, than it should be.

In real life D1 last year, there was 1 C and 1 PF.  The rest were slashing forwards or guards.

I'm not saying it should be like real life, and clearly scoring is dominated by guards in HD, I'm just saying it's not really weird when I think about the state of basketball at this point.  How many really good low-post scorers exist in the world at this point?

I don't notice a shot distribution relative to distro problem at all.  Guards are definitely more efficient scorers in the sim engine, but you should look in a little more depth at your statement that "my SG always takes way too many shots vs his distro numbers."  Maybe you're recruiting better stamina at the guard positions?  You also generate more TOs than offensive rebounds, so you have to look at relative shots on breakaways vs putbacks.  Most importantly, are you factoring in FTs?  In general scoring big men shoot more FTs than guards.  Are you factoring in .4*FTA+ FGA, or just FGA?

Guards, on the average, have stamina that has them playing 5-9 minutes more than  big men. You have to accommodate that if you want big men to score in the upper teens per game.by over delivering distribution to the big man. It doesn't help as much to play them "getting tired" to extend minutes because fatigue reduces their effectiveness.

I was just thinking about this because on my NYT team, my SG has 20% of the offense despite only have 1 more point of distro than my SF who has 13.9% and 2 points more than my C who has 11.9% (the lowest of my starters despite the third highest distro by a decent margin.)

Adjust your distro then and give more to the bigs.  Big-dominated teams can be quite successful, they draw fouls and wear down the opponents front line and let you win the rebounding battle.

Well its odd for my team that the SG has 1 more point in distro than the SF but is taking so many more shots. He plays about 4 MPG more but that shouldn't account for the huge difference.

It would if he's on the court with all backups that have 0 distro, meaning for 4 straight minutes, he's taking close to 100% of your team's shots.

Which is obviously not the case. I tweaked my distro before my last game so now the SF and SG have equal numbers. SG took 15 shots, SF took 7.
