12 sim coaches in conference... Topic

Do you take a job there or don't you?

Just want to gauge some feelings of how people like to enjoy the game

I wouldn't. But if at D1, it's possible, b/c that's almost a free ticket to the dance (not easy at low D1, even in an empty conf. it can be tough.)

I played in the MEAC with all Sims for a number of seasons.  On one hand it was nice where winning the CT wasn't all that difficult but it got old fast.  I'm much happier sucking it up in a human filled conference.  I would say it depends on what you are looking for.  An all Sim conf is a good place to build up your resume to move on to a bigger program or an easier ticket to the big dance.  But if you are looking for a fun long term program may not be a good choice.

I'm currently in a conference with 11 sims in D3. My program is very strong, but the conference breeze is boring. Also, recruiting can be difficult with such little extra funds. I like knowing that even if I don't have the pieces to make a serious NT run, I'll still put up a great record year in and year out. Not so good for RPI and SOS, though, as my RPI recently dropped from 2 to 8 after one game. ONE GAME.

Depends on your perspective, I guess.

I've seen people snap and go crazy. They talk to themselves, talk to Simmy.... don't be like them.

I always find the toughest conference I can. I can't handle being in boring conferences. Naismith CUNY is always top 4 in DIII. CVAC Iba and Gulf South Allen are always #1 in those worlds for DII, and CCAA in Crum seems to be a top 2 or 3 conference every season. I'd much rather be an average team in a great conference than dominate a bunch of sims - too many sims and I get bored very fast.

I had my RPI drop from 82 to 106 in one game last season (a game that I won, of course). There are some pretty competitive teams in the conference, but there's one team that went 0-27 two years in a row, and playing them is always tough on the ol' RPI.

I'm still pretty new at this, so I might not even be able to get a job in conferences like those, but I just like my conferences to be good (and chatty), not necessarily the best in the world. I'm in the Ohio in Crum (seven humans, five to the postseason last year), GLV in Allen (seven humans, seven to the postseason last year), and Northwest in Naismith (nine humans, five to the postseason this year, but two in the Elite Eight currently). It sucks when a Sim school just dives off a cliff like Wilmington and Otterbein have the last two years in Crum. Of course, it also sucks when human coaches don't log in and the same thing happens (see: Pacific Lutheran in Naismith. 0-27 three years running). But as long as there are enough humans that there's plenty of competition mixed in with an occasional sacrificial lamb, I'm happy. I think being the only human in a conference (maybe even in a division) would be really boring. I'd love if those three conferences filled out with humans, but it's not necessary to the enjoyment of the game.

$.02.

Only as a stepping stone to another place and for a short period of time.  (ie, a low level Div-1 conference to be able to get into a BCS school later).

I prefer to have an active CC, but I can see how playing nothing but sims would be fun for a recruit rotation or so.  Could put up some monster stats.
