We could take our historic teams that we had in HD dynasty.  All the teams from the seasons that we have coached and play them against each other in simulations, so we could know which of our teams that we had was the best.  Seems cool and implementable.

The problem with that would be that in the 1st 8-10 seasons, players were a LOT more talented than they are now.  Players at D3 were almost as talented as what a lot of D1 teams are in major conferences.  My NC Wesleyan (D3) team from Naismith from seasons 2-5 would torch just about any D1 team today because of the changes that were made.  It would also benefit teams from the beginning era in that simulation because there were no caps on how good a player could get.  Theoretically you could take any player with 20 PE and turn him into a 100 PE player by the time he was done.  It all depended on his playing time and minutes coached at that skill.  There were some recruiting loopholes that I found in season 2 that allowed D3 teams to get just about any D2 player they wanted, as long as they spent more to recruit him.  And there were no caps on amount of recruiting cash you had, so if you had 12 scholarship openings, you had the money you would get from having 12 scholarships.  You weren't limited to 6 players in a certain class either.

I would love to have those teams back to play around with, but teams from the first couple seasons would just destroy any team from after player potential and talent level changes were implemented in this game.

i am not saying that going back in time retroactively since those ratings are most likely gone, but going forward i feel it could be done. and you could obviously have an option that separates your team into release versions so you know if they would be on equal footing based on changes. i just feel it would be an interesting twist, and could perhaps open up other doors into historic tournaments etc.

Cool idea.  At WIS, you can already pit the 1927 Yankees vs. the 1976 Reds, etc.

It's probably a complicated programming (I'm a computer idiot so i don't really know).  But, right now, WIS isn't even making the simple changes, like changing the name of a college.  I've submitted 4 recent name changes to no avail.   i.e.  Philadelphia Biblical is now Cairn;  Wisconsin-Green Bay is now Green Bay (for athletics only) ;  Wisconsin-Milwaukee is now Milwaukee (for athletics only) ;  St Andrew's Presyterian has dropped 'Presbyterian' from their name

A few  things:

First, alblack that is amazing that you know these things because unless one of them was local I wouldn't know any of that. You are an awesome fountain of knowledge.

Second, I agree with tdiddy's assessment of the early era teams - lots more talent, crazy ability to improve players however you wanted (which I like better than potentials, but meh).

Third, I'd simply like to be able to see the ratings for past players on a roster rather than just summaries, even if you couldn't simulate things.

If you google 'college name changes', an entire list comes up.  I then searched for 2011 and 2012 to see which name changes happened recently. That's where I found out about St. Andrew's Presbyterian and Cairn.  Don't ask me WHY I looked them up....I have no logical reason. LOL  For the Wisconsin schools, I noticed that the Horizon Conference standings referred to them as just Green Bay and Milwaukee. From there, it was an easy task to find  that they had dropped the Wisconsin prefix for athletics.

I'd previously informed WIS about the name change of Fairleigh Dickinson-Madison to Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham. I also told them about Washington Adventist (formerly Columbia Union).  THey made both changes promptly but don't seem interested in the newer changes. It's not a big deal, really, I just wanted them to know.

In September, Metropolitan State became MSU Denver. THey wanted Denver State but the U. of Denver objected, feeling it would be confusing. Kansas-Kansas St. and Michigan-Michigan St. have battled this "confusion" years." LOL

My favorite name change was a few year back. Arcadia was formerly Beaver College. The trustees  made the change for obvious reasons.
