At D3, if a player dropped to me but is already being considered by a D2 sim, roughly how much effort would it take to get that player to sign?  I'm A- prestige and the sim is C-.  WOTS says he's keeping his options wide open.  Ultimately, I guess I want to know if him dropping to me puts me and the D2 school  on a fairly level playing surface.

It usually doesn't take that much to knock off the simmy DII school in these cases. Can't give you an exact number, but send a few HVs and see where you stand and then if you need more you can send more.

its generally pretty easy, but what you havent mentioned is the distance from you to the recruit (sim's distance does not matter, they dont work off distance). a local recruit, to take off a sim, no problem (sometimes slight but overcomeable difficulty if you are going after the sim's priority target). but at distance, its possible to rack up a decent sized bill.

Can Sim be knocked off if the recruit HASN'T dropped to you yet, but has given you the backup message?

If you want to pull down a recruit like this it can be done, but it is more expensive (takes probably 2 to 3 times as many STs), and then you still have to win the battle. If the player is close and you have a lot of money (rare for D III, but applies to D II pulling down D I as well) it can be done; it is rarely worth it though since there is almost always a better option on a similar player IMO.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.  Distance is definitely a concern here as the player isn't exactly in my backyard.  It was more of an FYI for me for future recruiting cycles than anything.  When it's all said and done,I doubt I'll be in a position to go after this player.  Thanks!

yes, you just need to pull him down first.

360 miles is really the magic line, closer, you can knock sims off relatively easier, but further out, its much more difficult.
