I'm new I reserved catholic in tarkanian and I have a question. I have read in the faqs that you could use a recruiting service and then I read on the forums that to use the recruiting service you can not be using the 4.95 first season sale. Do I really need this to be good or can I be just as good without it?

You need recruiting service or you will not 100% ever be good.

So do I have to buy another season?

The scouting service is certainly not an absolute must have, especially in your first season when you are just trying to find out if you like the game. It is a great tool though, and if you decide to continue playing the game I would absolutely suggest using it, which requires you have more than 1 season at a time. If you are going to be playing multiple seasons its really better to buy them together anyway since it will save you money.
