Shoot threes or drive with this guy Topic

This guy plays the three spot for us.  Last season, I had him at +1 - he did fine from outside

But, he'll now be a senior and I'm wondering whether he might do better at a zero setting so he can drive to the basket using his ATH, SPD BH and LP.....?  Views?  May just be that the thing to do is experiment and mess around with his settings

I'd cut him.  If he can't get one of those 99s up to 100 then he just isn't trying very hard.  You don't need those types of players on your team let alone starting.

I'd say let him bomb away unless teams start playing you heavy plus (I don't know the make up of the rest of your team)

Definitely zero setting, unless he's the only guy on the team who can shoot 3's and even then I think I would still go zero. I might even consider -1 if I were you (especially if you have other 3 point shooters).

I would definitely stick with +1.  Even if you assume all of his FTs were on 2s, and give a very liberal proportion of them to +1s, he was more efficient shooting from 3.  And I would definitely expect that to be the case again.  Granted, he can score inside, but really even at high D1 most post players can score inside a little bit, enough so that if you want to badly enough you can let your shooters shoot and maintain a reasonably balanced offense.  Your other 2 quality guards are nowhere near the shooters Darby is.  And at the end of the day, when a guy has 87 speed, 99 PER, 99 BH, you could pretty much give him any other set of ratings you wanted and it would be hard for him to match his perimeter efficiency on 2-pt shots.
