How to get ALL active players into Excel? Topic

Is there a web query or something of that sort that can take all active players (and the data that comes with them, like in the "player ratings" top-25 list) and put them in a spreadsheet?

I'm not well-versed in programming to even begin to do this without a few hours of google searching

Under the rankings tab, there is a player ratings option.  Then you can get D1, D2, or D3 player ratings numbers.  To get the info into excel, you can just select all and copy and when you paste it into excel use the paste special command and select text instead of HTML.  This is how I calculate PER and TS% for all my players.

I mean for ALL the players, preferable in a way that won't take 100 hours by repopulating that list over and over again by conference and class and position, etc.

All the players? I do the copy-paste special-Text from screen to Excel described by poopnoodle above. If you recruit just 5 states including TX, that takes A LOT OF TIME. Almost not worth it. I can't imagine trying to do all the players... and maintaining it.

Not just recruits, active players. I'm sure there's a way.

The only way I know to do it would be to cycle through all the teams using the:

www.whatifsports.com/hd/TeamProfile/Ratings.aspx?tid=<num>

If I was doing something like that, I would write a "for loop" and utilize a program like wget or curl ... then save each team to <num>.html ... then write a script to parse the data portion of the team to build a .csv file.

There is no easy way to get a full set of active players from a world, although it would be nice if WIS would provide one.

You could send in a ticket and ask for one....can't hurt.

Just take the time to copy down the ratings and information manually.
