Accepted the redshirt? Topic

I recently saw this message from a recruit after an inform of redshirt, so I was wondering what it means. He signed with me, and I didn't end up redshirting him (chose someone else instead) but would he have accepted the redshirt after giving me this message (keep in mind he never stopped considering me and signed with me in the end):

Coach, listen, I wasn't that impressed with (my school) so far, it doesn't help your case if you really think you can land a player like me and expect to redshirt me.

if you inform and he signs, he'll accept it regardless of what his message may say

So basically, he'll whine a lot but do what I say regardless. Excellent. I thought that might be the case, but I wanted to be sure.
