Huge attribute gains Topic

Two off seasons ago, my first at Cornell I recruited this guy http://www.whatifsports.com/hd/PlayerProfile/Ratings.aspx?tid=0&pid=2404346 . I actually thought I had scouted him and just signed him fast, quickly realizing I was thinking of another player! Anyway he started with 15 perimeter, and tonight the number finally turned black at 78.

His hilarious 82 point difference from start to max out was quite the ride for me during a rebuild, and also makes me curious. What is the largest rise in an attribute others have seen? I still very much consider myself noobish at HD, and would love to hear some stories. I know Michael Jones will never be forgotten for me haha

Attributes like PER and LP that are high/high tend to grow by more points than other ones for some reason, but sometimes you get big growth in other areas too.

It doesn't happen often, but these big growths are the reason why you want high highs and why you hope the guy has enough work ethic to get it maxed out (or you put a redshirt on him to help it).

Donald Williams started at 15 LP and is now a 99 (+84)

Like I said, the attributes that tend to grow the most when they are high/high are PER and LP. Others can too but it is less common in my experience.

I had a SF named Lee Shorey a few seasons ago, I took a screenshot of when he was a FR - http://whatifsports.com/hd/PlayerHistory/Default.aspx?pid=2293606

He ended up with 95+ DEF/LP, he was an absolute monster

I signed Lawrence Say on my CSU, Chico team as a juco SO.  He started out at 19 in PER.  He is at 74 right now 6 days into his SR season (2 exhibitions and 4 regular season games) and is already up 5 points in PER this season and is still blue there.  I signed him to balance classes as an assumed career backup.  He turned into a pretty good player.

I don't even have to open these links to see that they're both the same.  And if it's "ended up with ...", they probably show only stats and no ratings.

Yep, just stats...

I remember my first really good recruiting class at WVU I signed a guy with a 1LP (back when 1 ratings could still be high) and his LP actually got up to over 70 despite the fact that it took two seasons for his LP to go from 1-10 which is the reason it was changed to 10 being the lowest high potential, because 1-10 just took too long to improve. I had another guy who actually improved somewhere between 38-40 in LP in 1 season, and had a couple of practices where he jumped 2 points. I haven't seen that type of improvement in a long time though. Don't know if it was taken out or if it's so rare that you only get a couple of those players ever.

I had a guy grow something like 45 points in LP in one season.

He was a guard with a ton of high-highs. I focused on conditions, Def, BH etc until he was done growing in those categories. Then I put like 50 minutes into LP his senior season. If I knew he was going to grow like that I would have done it differently.

yea kmason my guy improved 37 and fairly recently (when his per was in the high 60's) was still having 2 per practice improvements. obviously his high work ethic had a lot to do with it
