NBA Draft and prestige Topic

Any ideas out there on how the NBA draft can affect a team's prestige?. I've got an A+ team that had 4 1st rounders and 2 2nd rounders go in the draft. I know there are varying degrees of A+, which is why I'm curious.

There are degrees of A+ just as there are degrees of B, C-, ect. Everything works behind the scenes in decimals and when you build up enough points to hit a breakpoint you bump up. Since there is no A++, you just keep building a stronger A+. The points you earn by having a player drafted vary according to the player's slot in the draft. Having the #1 pick earns you the most points. The #15 earns you more points than the #30 and the #30 earns you more points than the #45.

It's also worth nothing that there is a bigger range within A+ than other grades, so while it's tough to know exactly, you can be bumped up pretty significantly within that A+ grade.

Thanks guys.  I figured it would be pretty difficult to narrow in on where I fall within the A+ range.

It would be nice if WIS just used numbers instead of letter grades for some things, like prestige, free throw shooting, loyalty, etc. Have the number be like the rest, out of 100 max, and it would be much easier to see where you stand on things.

Not a good idea. There needs to be grey area in HD, especially with the subjects you mentioned.

I'm not sure why any "grey area" is necessary in any of those areas. Maybe in prestige since you can't definitively say "I'm better than you" or vice versa if we have same exact letter grade, but in that case you would already know you're close anyway. The "grey area" isn't all that large, anyway. I see no real point to the ambiguity.

IMO, the grey area makes it more fun. With this grey area, HD is not reduced to a spreadsheet game, which would make it no fun.

Tkimble is spot on. If you change prestige to an exact number then recruiting just becomes a matter of doing the math to see if you can beat someone. Even with the letter system its not far from just being an equation, but at least there is some small amount of ambiguity to it.

Agreed on the above -- particularly when it comes to prestige, giving the exact number would actually be pretty terrible.

I would like to see exact numbers on individual ratings and IQ... If it were set up in a way where only the coach could see their team like how potential works, I'd like that and I don't think it would take too much from the game.

if it showed you your exact prestige number, you could more easily uncover the formula for prestige and thus figure out everyone else's exact prestige. not only would that defeat the purpose of gray areas, but it would give the game an even bigger learning curve for new players whom may not even get how prestige works yet.

i keep feeling like most people that 'want exact numbers' just want the math behind figuring the game out to be easier and don't understand the true consequences.
