any takers? ($20 prize) (maybe even $50) Topic

i reside in the toughest DIII conference, in the toughest world,  in all of HD

I am looking for two coaches that know each other.

here's the challenge.

both of you pick up a team in my conference.  you both play out four seasons.  In season 4, whoever has a better record wins $20 from me.  (only stipulation is that you have no more than 8 upperclassmen.  and that you have a minimum of 6 wins.
(if you win 11 games or more.  make it $50!)
free season if you win the conference (outright) in season 1-3

site mail me for detail. . . . .  or post here.    you must both have fairly decent resumes for consideration.  thank you.

I'd consider it, but I don't like the constraint regarding 8 upperclassmen.  Are these rebuilds? Coz I usually gut the rosters of rebuilds and so in year 4 I would have as many as 10 jrs/srs probably...

What would are you talking about? I am already in the N. Atlantic in Allen (the hardest D3 conference)

He's taking about the hardest DIII conference in Wooden. And while that point itself can come under debate now, it is definitely a challenging place to play.

Trust me though, neither of those is the toughest DIII conference and I'm sure a few Upstaters will agree with that. :)

I would gladly take your money if my Clemson rebuild isn't going in its final year.

Yeah sorry gvsu...jsa is right.

NAC Allen- 21 combined championships
UAA Naismith- 45

If championships aren't enough for you, UAA just placed 3rd in the all-time D3 conference RPI list with .6401...in only its 4th season.

Sorry to derail to thread a bit, but I thought it might be important to enlighten some folks regarding the current hierarchy of D3. ;)

Getting back on track...

This is an awesome offer from mrpolo. Upstate is one of the best D3 conferences of all-time, and that in itself should be enough to make you want to join.

This money deal is just icing on the cake.

Can a conference match that current 13 season run?
8/9/2013 2:57 PM
It's hard to gauge conferences across worlds without knowing what the competition is like.  For instance, if we had the Top 5 Conf. RPIs each season across all worlds it would help see if there's any conference that has quality competition for the NAC teams in the NT.  That's an outstanding 13-yr run by the N. Atlantic in Allen, but some context would be helpful.  I remember billy_g did that big data dump a long time ago and looked across worlds and all, but I have no idea where that is or how updated it is.

But wouldn't it be something if the Lasell coach from NAC/Allen was in the same conference as the RPI coach (and Brandeis coach) in Upstate/Wooden?  Maybe throw in a few other veteran coaches.  I bet they could do some damage in any world and start playing for titles also.  Oh well, it'll never happen.

lol 13-season window is a conveniently selected timeframe I'm sure.  UAA in Naismith is the toughest D3 conference right now and it isn't even close imo.  We can compare 13-season windows in 9 more seasons if you'd like.

i'd jump on this if i had friends

I know it is selective, but I was throwing it out there to justify why I made the comment that Allen is hardest. Everyone can have their opinion, but I think that 13 season run is pretty impressive. I am not going to look back 30 seasons if a conference hasn't dominated the past 10+.
8/9/2013 3:15 PM
Based on looking at the coaches of the UAA in Naismith I would agree that is an impressive group and in 9 seasons you can post your (potential) success here if you like.

this is the first season that i can't back up my statement.   we are no longer the toughest conf in the toughest world.....  But it won't stop me from making the statement.  and causing a bit of controversy

and its hard to gauge how good a conference is based on NTs   because i know for a fact that if the North Atlantic was in Wooden, they would have no where NEAR nine titles.   the competition is just too deep across the world.

the best collection of coaches (which makes it the toughest conference to win in) is UAA in Naismith.   But Wooden is still hands down the toughest world to have a DIII team in.
