Is the standard still each letter grade higher in prestige is 1.5 times as effective in recruiting.  Or said another way, if you are the lower prestige by a letter grade your recruiting is 2/3rds as effective as a letter grade above you?  If so I'm assuming an incremental jump for each step up the C-,C,C+,B-,B,B+,A-,A,A+,A++ ladder

well, A+ is a bigger category because in d1, its not capped. you can have a strong A+ and then win back to back championships, and have substantially higher than an A+. nobody really knows what the cap is, if you can get up to a 104 or 108 or what.

if its 1.5 times effort for 1 letter grade of prestige, then its 1.14 per partial grade (the cube root of 1.5). it multiplies - so its not like its 1.5 for 1 grade, 2 for 2 grades, etc - if its 1.5 for 1 grade, then its 2.25 (1.5*1.5) for 2 grades.

of note is that this appears most effective for D1 prestige value estimates. D2/D3 and the transition between divisions does not appear to have the same accepted standard.

There are lots of opinions on prestige, some think it's 2x per letter grade, others think it's a lot less, like 1.3x. I'm also pretty sure the higher the prestige the bigger the gap is, so a C+ has a smaller edge over a D+ than a B+ has over a C+. This helps explain why prestige is nearly meaningless in battles at D2 and D3.

The best way to learn the value of prestige is after a battle see if the coach you battled with will exchange effort with you. You can learn a lot, not only about prestige value but considering credits, distance preferences, and favorite school preferences if those things are factors.

I believe LostMyth used to have it as a 70% between full letter grades (so 1.7x).  There is an old guide/faq he submitted that discussed.  I think its pretty close, though I can't say for certain.  However, different from kmasonbx1 above, if I remember correctly, he believed the differentiator to be consistent through all levels of grades.

i think its consistent, too. the one thing lostmyth definitely had wrong was the scaling factor, he said if its 1.7 from A to B, its 2.4 from A to C, which is not the case - that kind of belief can skew the the prestige advantage, the best prestige multiplier guesses come from battles where teams are far apart in prestige (despite the fact they are rare). mathematically, that model is inconsistent. his HV:CV value turned out to be way more correct than i thought, but i still feel like it didn't work the same when i started as it does now, and at some point, that started to screw me over. i think his prestige guess is not quite right but pretty close, but hes also a legendary d1 recruiter so his opinion is probably worth more than mine.

just to clarify i didnt say i agreed its 1.5, i just was answering his other 2 questions using his assumed value
