Sky's the Limit! Or not Topic

I recruited a player last season and I discovered he was Sky's the Limit in low post. I immediately put his practice mins on 25 for low post. He only improved 6 points last season, and this year so far he has improved 1 point. As of this morning his low post is 19 and the potential color is black.

Why did it change to black? Did i do something wrong? Can it go back to blue somehow?

High High is 27+ right?   I think what you have is a case of fractional rounding.   He might have started at 11.51 and will finish at 38.49 which gives you an improvement of 26.98 or rounded, 27.   Those suck man, sorry.

I always thought high-high potential meant 28+ points of improvement...

I've also wondered about this. Is sky the limit the highest (27+)? and any guesses on the other scouting trip analyst terms and how much it means a player could potentially improve. ex. *dramatic* improvement and improve drastically, etc.

all the high highs are +28 or more, that does not vary from skill to skill. your explanation makes sense branchel, there is nothing wrong - when you gain +7 you only have +21 left, which is the lowest high, and you drop to black before you see that 1 point improvement when you have +21 highs... so seeing +7 and going black on a high/high is the absolute worst case. you just hit that worst case (assuming no off season improvement). you still have about 20.5 points of improvement left.

I dont mean this in a negative way, but what decision could ever be affected by whether it means 27 or 28?

I cant compare players or make practice decisions with that degree of fineness - can anyone?

I assumed that "sky's the limit" meant his rating would go to 99 as long as you practiced that skill consistently. I understand now that that is not the case. Thanks for your input everyone.

sky's the limit (or any other high-high message) will typically go up 28+ points.  Some of the lesser categories (if u want to call them that) will sometimes go up a lot more (i think rebounding is one of them where u could see 50+ points and it not be that uncommon).  I'm no guru but i generally "pencil" in my high-high guys at 30 pts of growth regardless of the attribute.. so yeah, if your guy had 69 pts in whatever the high-high is then you could goto 99

per and lp generally seem to be categories that typically give you a lot of growth from high high potential, but not always as this case illustrates. Unlucky break...
