First time running the Flex, Can a vet help plz? Topic

Can either a vet give me some advice on the flex offense or post some links to threads that help please.  I've spent the last 2 hours looking through threads and cant find anything at the moment.

Is it a big difference than running a motion offense?   or is it 6 one half a dozen the other?

I'm pretty sure recruiting is the same for both motion and flex or am I wrong?

Any help is much appreciated.

similar situation here, but you can't search on flex since the search term is too short.

From what I've read/remembered it's more of a 3 pt heavy offense than others.  I always forget which emphasizes BH or P more.

Don't overthink it, what works for one will work for the other.  Too many coaches make this game far more complicated than it needs to be.  Recruit the best talent you can and go with it.

This. You do need good passing and perimeter shooting, but if you want to be successful you probably need these in any offense.

I have run the flex for years and have found that 3 point shooting acumen is very valuable to my teams. As others have said, however, too many coaches will over-think this. I try to get good passing bigs and well rounded wings and guards. I'll sacrifice most on passing due to there often being a BH/PE correlation in players,  and have found that that decision has hurt me in the past, so I'm going to look to recruit passing better in the future. But one thing that's been stated with which I agree is the three point shooting comment. I always have a few good outside shooters on my team, and my team almost always is above 40% on 3's.

I ran the flex a few times with some other teams in other worlds, much easier for players to learn the flex then motion. Good three pointing shooting, passing and ball handing a key to running a good flex offense which pretty much artie said.

It's definitely a good offense to have a 3pt heavy squad.

Also depends on your def. SP, Per go hand in hand. But for def. you need Ath, def. My bigs are good rebounders and passers, I don't worry about lp. Like everyone said you shouldn't make it to complicated. Good BH, pass PG and BH othrr guards. Motion is more passing, Imo.

I don't think the offenses are that different except for FB, and wouldn't recruit 3 pt shooting at the expense of athleticism and defense.  Slashing guards with minimal perimeter skills  but good ATH, LP and BH can also thrive in the flex.  I have a very successful flex team at Menlo in Smith DIII and less than 20% of our shots are 3 pointers.  There is definitely more than one way to build a team in this game!
