what makes a player a 5th yr Sr. Topic

I have 4 juniors on my team and two of them transferred from other D1 programs to mine. On their statics tab they have one year of stats (with their old team) and one for this year. Next year they will be seniors (3 years of stats) will they get a so call 5th year? If not what are the cases for player to get 5 years to perform 4 outside of a redshirt situation?

If their freshman year they were ineligible, then they have the option to play their fourth year of eligibility.

Yes, in that case they'll show up as SR/5.  But, in their ineligible year, they'll neither practice nor improve in any categories.

so the 2 kids who transferred must've been recruited as sophomores by their original schools.  For them to be eligible to have a 5th year, they must show up (as carson essentially says) having been declared Academically Ineligible their first year.  This would show up in bold beneath the Transfer line on each player's Statistics tab.
