#1. I think driving/slashing shots have more to do with ATH/SPD than LP/PER but i could be 100% wrong
#2. The type of shot a player takes is based on his +/- setting. If you play a SF at C with -2 setting he likely will not use his perimeter rating that much, but if you play him with a 0 he'll make use of it.
As for number two, partially true ... its also based on the ratio of his LP to his PER, which is then modified by his plus minus setting.
#1 is very murky in my mind.
After the sim decides who is going to take the shot, at some point there needs to be a "does the shot go in" equation. The offensive components of this shot are not crystal clear.
I don't know if EVERYTHING is factored in (which I don't think is true because the 100 PER 1 LP guy is a better offensive player than the 50 PER 50 LP guy) or if there are different equations or one equation with some if/then statements.
I think, I think, there are at least three (3) equations:
1. One based mainly on LP and ATH
2. One based mainly on SPD and PER
3. One based mainly on SPD and BH
I could be wrong with #3 it might be speed, ath, lp and bh or it just might be #1 and the speed and bh are smaller components that appear more important.
My guy also tells me that these scoring equations are more defended by different equations.
I think #1 is opposed by ATH/DEF/BLK as key components and #2 is opposed by ATH/SPD/DEF with speed being more important than ATH. I think this because by high ath high def defenders get smoked by slightly higher SPD, slightly higher PER shooters.
I also think that because I have seen post players be successfully shoot 3's with only moderate PER and SPEED. I believe it's because they have a big advantage on the typically super slow Center.
