I'm considering a trade for Pitcher Jamie Jacobs. With his $12M price tag for the next 3.5 seasons and at age 33 I am concerned about his retention of value in years 3 and 4 (ages 35 & 36) of his contract. Of particular concern is his patience rating. I don't remember seeing a pitcher with zero patience before and have no idea how this will affect his value and performance.

This guy could really help me now and I have a lot of low salaried players to offset his high paycheck now and in the future . But I don't want to make a move that will leave me regretting his acquisition.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

PItchers hold their value much deeper into their careers.   You've got 20m in training.  He'll be fine.

Great input guys. Thank you. One more thing. I've been under the impression that Patience of about 80 or higher is a good indication of a player being willing to re-sign or stay in an option year. True or false?

His 83 in makeup combined with a high training budget should keep him from eroding much during this contract.
