For the first time in my many seasons coaching I just got an email from the trainer saying that one of my players is having a hard time "keeping his legs" based on how many minutes he's playing. Due to a terrible recruiting debacle I'm playing very shorthanded this season, so by necessity this guy has been playing 30+ mpg with a stamina around 70, so I'm not surprised by this, but I'm just curious what impact this could have. Obviously his performance will be degraded when he is tired, but could there be any long term effect, increased risk of injury, etc?

Wow...first time I've ever heard of this email!

The fact that it is coming from your trainer certainly gives a nervous thought or two that there might be (or once have been) a heightened injury chance or something attached.

Yeah, that was certainly my initial thought. I'm sure there is some level of risk involved, but I'm really just trying to figure out if its something I should really be concerned about or if its just something that is there but doesn't mean a whole lot. I guess I should probably play it safe since losing him would put me in a real bind.
