Fastbreak offense/ Zone defense Topic

Hello. I was wondering if anyone has tried this O/D combo, or at least has any thoughts on it. Just took over a new team and I have been considering switching to this. My thinking is that the zone will negate some of the fatigue impact of the fastbreak offense. I also like the versatility, and ability to hide a poor defender by recruiting a player of the high ATH/DEF and good at nothing else mold, which are usually readily available for cheap.

Thanks!

I think i only ever had one FB team  (cuse-tark)  and i HATED it.  but never switched offenses over 40 seasons (stubborn i suppose)   but,  that team was FB press and i always wondered if FB/zo might be a better way to go , epsecially to minimize fatigue issues.    plus, it was Cuse after all... not sure why i never made the switch.

I really wish this was/is a good combination. I never recruit worth a damn when it comes to lp or per anyway, so an offense specifically not designed to rely so heavily on lp and per sounds like the way to go...

FWIW I am picking an alt team to toy with the combo some and see what I can do with it. Considering its in Knight D2 where I haven't made it to the final weekend in like 40 seasons I don't know exactly how I'll judge success... (with my luck it'll be blockbusters and my crappy alt will win a title or something...)

I think you hit the nail on the head.   Pretty  much I have found everything you said to be true.

Couple more thoughts:

1. You can run a team with 10 players.   You could probably do it with 9 but I haven't tried it yet.
2.  My team defense tends to drift back to average.  Because you can snag the 90-40 guys cheaper than the 65-65 guys, I find defensively my teams never really reach the elite level.  Still good but not top 10.
3. It switches most seasons, but my teams are generally 2-3 or 3-2 all the time.   If my SF is more of a guard on defense, I go 3-2 and play with the +/-.   If he has a reasonable BLK score I tend to go 2-3.
4.  In the post, I try pair up my DEF/BLK scores.    I am starting to think it doesn't really matter  but I am nervous about having two guys with low DEF or BLK paired together.
5. My high LP post players usually do better than I expect.
