I was thinking about breaking my roster down with 8 guards that could play 1-3. A hybrid 3-4 and 3 guys that could play the 4 and the 5. Is that gonna be entirely to guard heavy?

I'd say 7 guards would be plenty if that's the route you wanna go. 2 at each of the spots 1-3 with 1 guy backing up all 3, and then add a true forward.

There have definitely been teams that excelled with guard heavy line-ups. From my own experience, the advice I would offer is that those three guys you would play at the 4 & 5 spots better be really good all-around frontcourt players, especially not having any large holes in ATH, REB, DEF, or BLK.
