Hiring coaches to lower levels Topic

In the past, I am pretty sure that I have been able to hire coaches to a lower level than their demands. For example, I offer a AA coach a job at A level. I thought it was a good way to get strong coaches for some of my minor league teams, if you're willing to wait until late in the cycle.

But I just tried this again with several coaches in one of my leagues, and they all rejected my offers. Does anyone know how likely coaches are to accept a Lower assignment, and how late in the cycle they have to be before they'll swallow their pride? Does it help to offer extra money?

Thanks.

I tried this for many seasons before giving up on it.

It worked once or twice on the last hiring cycle or half cycle.  But mostly it didn't.  And HBD seems to be coded to penalize not hiring coaches. So when I tried this and the coach wouldn't come down a level, I got the worst of the coaches left in the pool.  Better coaches went unsigned.

The only time I'd try this would be the last cycle or half cycle if all of the remaining coaches at that level sucked equally so I didn't care which one I was given.

Offering more money doesn't seem to matter at all. I've offered coaches who wanted AAA jobs for $400K close to $2MM to coach in AA and they don't take it.  The ones who signed a level below their original request signed for their asking price.

Coach hiring sucks. Worst part of the game.  Biggest single improvement they could make to HBD would be to get rid of it and make coaching one or more budgets like training, health, and scouting.

Coach hiring is as easy or as difficult as you make it to be.  You see AA pitching coaches you want with 74 pitching ratings, but they're being talked to already? Get the guy who isn't, at 68.  And so on and so forth.  The difference between the 2 coaches is pretty insignificant.

I regularly try to sign coaches to lower levels than their demands, and personally, it feels to me like this is less likely to happen these days.

When all positions have been filled at his demanded level, THEN a coach will accept a job at a lower level.

Okay, that makes sense. Thanks for the clarification, Mchalesarmy.
