1 Opening in 1997/98 and 1998/99 Prog.-filled !! Topic

We have 1 opening for a double season progressive that started with the 1967/68 & 1968/69 seasons, the first two years of the ABA. We will soon be starting season 16,1997/98 & 1998/99. We are currently posting keepers, season 15 has 17 games (9 days) left. The draft will take place after a replacement owner is found, all keepers are posted and I have completed the available player list. This is the 1st time in 2 seasons that we have had an opening in the league. Each season you will be able to select which of 2 seasons you want to use for each of your players (assuming they are active both seasons). The upcoming season (16) you may use 1997/98 or 1998/99, the following season (17) you will be able to use 1999/00 or 2000/01 etc.

Information on the team available is posted below.

Rookies for the 1997/98 and 1998/99 season include Tim Duncan, Dirk Nowitzki, Paul Pierce, Vince Carter, Antawn Jamison and many other good players.

No rookies, no WW. Trades of players OK and draft picks one season in advance only.

Drafts subsequent to the initial draft will be in inverse order of regular season record, with the tiebreaker being total point differential (points scored less points allowed) with the team with the worse point differential drafting earlier. However, as an anti-tanking provision for the 1st round only there will be a weighted lottery among the 4 teams with the worst record for the first 4 draft positions. The same tiebreaker will be used for these positions.

Since this is a progressive league I do request that you not sign up unless you expect to be able to participate for at least 5 seasons.

If interested please sign up below and you will be given temporary access to the league's private forum. If you want the team, you will need to post a keeper list for season 16 as soon as possible after you have reviewed the team's roster and decided which players to keep.

The first team available is the Phoenix Suns. The Suns current record in the 1995/96 and 1996/97 season is 37-32, with 13 games left in the season. The current owner is a very experienced owner who has suddenly dropped from several progressive basketball leagues with no communication.

The team's roster for 1995/96 and 1996/97 was as follows:   THIS TEAM HAS BEEN TAKEN

Kenny Anderson PG
Kobe Bryant SG
Sherman Douglas PG
Grant Hill SF
Ervin Johnson C
Magic Johnson PF
George Lynch SF
Terry Mills PF
Tracy Murray SF
Olden Polynice C
Alvin Robertson SG
Lorenzen Wright C

Robertson and Magic Johnson retired at the end of the 1995/96 and 1996/97 seasons, so the team will need at least 2 draft picks.  I will post data for the actual 1997/98 and 1998/99 seasons (making assumptions as to which season will be used for each player) for the other 10 players below.

Terry Mills may be a candidate to be cut. Grant Hill is at the peak of his career, and Kobe Bryant is just starting his great career (he was the #3 draft pick for the 1995/96 & 1996/97 draft). Those 2 will be the nucleus of this team.

Rapid City Thrillers roster for 1995/96 and 1996/97 was as follows:

Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf PG
Elden Campbell PF
Sash Danilovic SG
Todd Day SG
Tom Hammonds PF
Chris Mullin SG
Scottie Pippen SF
Bryant Reeves C
Joe Smith PF
Otis Thorpe PF
Nick Van Exel PG
Eric Williams SF

Danilovic retired after the 1995/96 and 1996/97 season. Day, if kept, will be on IR for the 1997/98 and 1998/99 season. Abdul-Rauf and possibly Day and/or Hammonds should be cut so the team will need at least 2 and possibly 3 or 4 draft picks. I will post data concerning the 10 active players for the 1997/98 and 1998/99 seasons (making assumptions as to which season will be used for each player) below.

An owner with 2 teams in the league has decided to make one of the teams available. Both of his teams have won league championships (3 for the team he is keeping) and have been well managed. Both teams are now in rebuilding mode. The team available is the Dallas Huskies, who have a record of 35-44 with 3 games left in the 1995/96 and 1996/97 season. The Dallas Huskies won the league championship in the 1993/94 and 1994/95 season with a 62-20 record.

The team's roster for 1995/96 and 1996/97 was as follows:
Shannon Anderson SG
Willie Anderson SF
B.J. Armstrong PG
Sam Cassell PG
Clyde Drexler SG
Patrick Ewing C
A.C. Green PF
Kerry Kittles SG
Aaron McKie SG
Oliver Miller C
Cherokee Parks C
Malik Rose PF
Spud Webb PG

Spud Webb retired after the 1995/96 and 1996/97 season. I will post data concerning the 11 active players for the 1997/98 and 1998/99 seasons (making assumptions as to which season will be used for each player) below.

As noted above, Dallas will be in a rebuilding mode so an owner will need to be willing to spend 2-3 seasons building a winner. The league has a remaining life of 9 or 10 seasons.

B.J. Armstrong and possibly Oliver Miller should probably be cut (any other players desired can also be cut) so the team will likely need 2-3 draft picks. The team will likely be drafting 10th to 12th for 1997/98 and 1998/99 but is likely to be a lottery team for the following couple of seasons with high draft picks.

I will take Dallas if I can change the name.
