Totally up to you. I guess the first question to ask, is how long do you plan on being at SUNY IT? If you're just using it as a stepping stone to D2, then there is no reason at all to change defenses. You're only going to cost yourself wins. If you plan on being there 4+ seasons then go for it. I think a lot of players switch O/D when they are taking over a new program just because they feel like it, I know I was guilty of this. Look into the differences between the defenses and ask yourself, am I switching because I like what the new defense provides, or just to make a change? Switching from M2M to press is a very legitimate strategy, so if you've done your research and know what you're doing, go for it. I would put between 22-25 minutes into the new defense (and 0 for M2M). If you are playing a lot of upperclassmen who already know M2M, then you can continue to play it while practicing press early on in the season, until the players become competent in press. After an entire season of practicing press your players should be in the B- to C range in terms of IQ. This is far from ideal, but it won't hurt you the way a D IQ can.
