Draft projections- help! Topic

My first year in the league and I have the number one pick- so I could only get to 14/14 scouting...

The player I'm looking at drafting is a corner of type
Current stats: con 57 pow 67 l/r 44/57 eye 62
Projections 90 99 68 88 91
So I'm wondering how close he can come to these projections- specifically power- I saw some huge gains in contact but I don't think I've ever seen power improve more than 10-15 points.

His makeup, which I believe affects development is 55/65. He is a hs player. Can I expect him to come anywhere close to these projections? Thanks

I'm guessing that he could reach  C 85/ P 88/ L 65/ R 80/ E 72 max

I'd expect the eye to go higher-- more like 80-- but otherwise agree with willsauve.

Perennial all-star-caliber bat, even at 1B/DH.  Assuming he can play an average LF or RF and has a 75+ DUR he's a worthy first pick.  Not quite what I'd hope to get at pick 1 if he's a 1B/DH.

He projects to 73/78 range glove (currently 62/46).

How good of a pitcher would you have to see to take them ahead of him?

I'd punt on this draft especially if you've budgeted to chase IFA's this season.

I'd take any legitimate #1 starter ahead of him; someone who projects to an average of low 80s of splits, control, and P1 and can throw 180 innings.  I'd also take a number of somewhat lesser bats if they had very solid defense up the middle.  But I like this guy and respectfully disagree with Will about punting this draft.  It's no better than 50/50 that you'll see a better player in the #2 slot next season.

With 18/18 scouting I'd say there is higher than 75% chance that a better guy will be there at #2 next season.. Also if the guy next year is college he would even be closer to ML ready... When you have the #1-2 pick you need to make it count.. The money saved this season could be the difference in landing an impact IFA... the guy referenced above would be a 5-10 pick in a good draft...
