Trying out HD again- Anything new? Topic

Hey guys,

I'm trying out HD again for the first time in a while (Last time I was in Knight a few real life years ago) with King's College in Tark and wanted to know if anything has changed. Also, I only spent one season in Knight and won a grand total of three games, so any advice/tips would be extremely helpful.

Thanks!

Did players have different potentials for each rating when you were in the game previously?

What about low post having meaning for guards?

No to the first question, but I think I've gathered that much. Blue is high potential, black is average, red is limited. What ranges in terms of improvement are we talking for blue, black and red?

I don't remember looking for LP in Guards the last time. I do know that the goal was to always find good Ath, Spd, and Def. Is that still the case, or are offensive ratings more important now?

There's a really good thread, entitled "How to Win at D2 and D3" (or a similar title).  It used to be in the front page; I'm not sure where it is now. But it's full of good information

Blue: 20+ (scouting trips during recruiting reveal whether or not blue is high/high (28+) or low high (20-28), which can obviously be very important)
Black: 7-19
Red: 0-6

In a guard, high ATH/SPD/DEF is still coveted, but (depending on level, D1/D2/D3) offense is important as well. Personally, at D2 I won't take a guard who has low ratings in ATH/SPD/DEF but I would take a guard with little-to-no offensive game if they have high ATH/SPD/DEF.

Lp does matter fir a guard now, and a good athletic guard with lp can get some good fts.

Thanks fellas, this helps a lot. Here is that thread you were talking about, alblack:

Any ideas on what I should be looking at in terms of recruiting? Probably a C/PF type, and a couple of Wing-type players?

Also, while I'm at it, any thoughts on a starting lineup? I'm thinking:

PG- Radford
SG- Wheeler
SF- Harper
PF- Whiteside
C- Spengler

This is all contingent on what I can find recruiting, of course, but I'm at D3, so I'm not expecting to land an immediate starter.

mb, there is a thread pinned at the top with a list of mentors in the game. I would suggest looking at that thread and contacting one of those coaches as a tutor. That will shorten your learning curve quite a bit.

Did that the first time I played. I *think* I know enough of the basics to spare people their time. Just trying to get a feel for things again.

Another thing for reference, the is NO out of position penalty now, so just pay attention solely to the ratings when selecting lineups. I might consider just embracing the rebounding issues you are going to have anyhow and starting Whiteside and McGarrity. You are going to have rebounding troubles no matter what you do, but that would be a fairly stout defensive frontcourt. And for d3 in,general, a reasonably stout defense as a whole in your starters.

I don't remember there being an out of position penalty the last time I played, but that is helpful. I was definitely considering using McGarrity heavily, more as a defensive role-player off the bench, but I think you make a good point and, if I don't get someone better, I'll certainly stick him into the starting lineup.
