I have a DII team. I am finally grasping the game, the stuff that needs to be known. I have a DII team that plays a zone. (I truly believe man to man is easier...) I have not seen a team not playing press or man to man in the final four in the worlds I am in.

What's the difference between 2-3 and 3-2 except for the fact, that you probably defend the perimeter better in 3-2 and the Inside better in 2-3. So it's a decision you take depending on your alignment.

When you recruit, do you go for athleticism or defense first knowing you are zoning. I bet speed plays a big part in the zone too like it does when you press. Anyways, any input for my upcoming recruiting would be appreciated. I want to key on the right players for my zone. I have two spots open.

Couple of points:

1. "Defense" is calculated the same way. ATH, DEF, SPEED and BLK are all used. I don't believe their importance in zone is any different than man.

2. A 3-2 stops guard scoring better and 2-3 stops post scoring better.

3. The 2-3 is weak against a SF with high PER and then 3-2 is weak against a SF with high LP.

4. I recruit the exact same way for man and zone EXCEPT I look for more extreme players. I'll take the 90/90 offensive guy with 20 DEF if I know I have a 90 DEF guy to pair him with.

Another thing in a 2-3 they take the PF and SF averaged ratings and C stands alone in ratings. In a 3-2 you take the PG, SG, and SF averaged ratings and PF and C are averaged. So if you SF is good reb and BLK I use a 2-3 if your SF is more guard type(SP) I go 3-2.

If you really want to take the time and learn how to run a zone properly, check this out. It gets good on page 3 and onward. Its a lot of reading, but if you want to get good and understand the zone it is pretty much required reading. I used to switch between 2-3 and 3-2 pretty much solely based on an opponents 3-point shooting, which I now know is a bad strategy.
