First season playing HBD and I have a question... Topic

This pitcher is 23 years old and on a steady decline. He's not rated to be a world beater but I would love to know the factors or the reasoning behind the decline. I have seen this on a few players and have not been able to correlate the factors. Thanks in advance.

Couple factors at play here.

He was injured in S26, so that's where some of it came from. He's also been waived and claimed a few times, which will sometimes cause a ratings decline, depending on patience rating. His is 21 which is pretty low, so probably took a hit both times he was waived and claimed.

One other point even though you didn't ask.    If you're going to take on low health players, you have to have a high medical budget.    A pitcher with 5 health will see a lot of injuries

Thanks for the answers! Second part to the health issue.  A guy with low health like that is their a difference in what position he takes? Is something like mopup easier on the arm or does it not really matter?

In my experience, pitchers are more prone to injuries.   I don't think role matters for pitchers wrt injury.

Thank you!

However, the more he pitches, the more chances to get injured.   True for any pitcher, but especially true for a china doll such as this.   A role where he pitches less would limit exposure to injury

Role does not equal appearances.    If his role is to never pitch, the chance of injury is very little.

Do you think that in game fatigue is considered when the sim engine calculates injury chance?

IOW if you reduce the PC for a pitcher who is already more injury prone, would that reduce the likelihood of injuries to him?

Logic says yes but I've seen nothing to back that up.

Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Andres Castilla   8 pitches

I seldom see a guy throw 77 pitches and get hurt.    Of course, throwing more pitches exposes one to injury(assuming an injury can happen at any time) but I don't think in game fatigue factors in.
