Only Need 1 for 1968 Career Progressive League Topic

We need 2 owners for a Diamond Legends or Career Progressive League which started in 1961 and will soon be advancing to the 1968 (it's 8th) season. Details on the 2 teams available will be provided in the following posts.

In the Diamond Legends (or Career) WIS leagues, players use their average career statistics. In this specific league, that will mean using their average career statistics in a progressive from their first year of eligibility starting in 1961 through their last year of WIS eligibility. In this league, Don Sutton (whose rookie season of WIS eligibility was 1966) will be eligible every season from 1966-1988-no IR seasons !!

The league has 16 teams, Alternate WIS format E (4 teams make playoffs) No DH,No WW, No AAA, No injuries. General Managers must be deal with a salary cap of $80 million. Owners must use the actual ballpark used by their franchise in 1968.

Annual drafts will be in inverse order of finish except that for the first round only there will be a random weighted lottery among the 4 teams with the worst record (4 chances for the team with the worst record, 3 chance for 2nd worst etc.). The tiebreaker will be run differential (runs scored less runs allowed) with the team with the worst run differential drafting higher.

The first team available is the California Angels. For 1967 the Angels have a  record  of 54-73 with 35 games left in the season.

The Angels had no players retire after the 1967 season. In order to be eligible for draft picks the Angels will need to cut 1 or more players. The amount of salary available for draft picks will depend on the amount of salary cut.. The Reds will. probably be drafting from 1st-4th since there are 3 teams, including the Angels, with a 54-73 record and 1 team with a 52-75

The second team available is the Oakland Athletics (first season after the move from Kansas City). For 1967 the Athletics have a  record  of 54-73 with 35 games left in the season.

Please note that due to a shortage of IP in the first couple of seasons only during the first seaso all teams were allowed to draft 1 pitcher from 1941, with those pitchers retiring after the 1949 (league 1969 season) season or their actual year of retirement, whichever came first.

For the Angels that pitcher is Hal Newhouser and for the Athletics the pitcher is Ken Raffensberger. Both will retire after their 1949 season (league season 1969.

Interested owners will be given access to the league's private forum, which has preliminary lists of available players (including 1968 rookies and previous undrafted players but NOT including any 1968 cuts), and has a table of 1968 pre-cut roster totals and pre-cut available funds for draft picks.

Please indicate your interest below and/or site-mail me with any questions you may have about the career format.
