I have two aging pitchers -

That haven't been very consistant. Crosby I don't expect much from. Melian I hoped would be steady.

For Player settings I have:

Crosby is 34 Dur/65 Stam and I have him at 85/100 pitches with a 2 bullpen call rating.

Melian is 19 Dur/64 Stam and I have him at 65/75 pitches with a 2 bullpen call rating.

Maybe Crosby is pitching as good as I can expect? Maybe Melian will even out?

How does everyone approach analyzing their SP performances and adjusting their player settings to get the most out of them?

Cosby's career is just below league average.   You can't expect better than that from him.

Melian has lost a good bit, ratings-wise.   He should be better but the days of 1.10 WHIP/sub 3 ERA are long gone.   Last season is about as good as it's gonna get with him.

You'll find that people have varying ideas on how to adjust.  I lower PC and raise pull ratings.   Others will disagree and say the pull doesn't matter because he's the same pitcher whether you snatch him at the first time of trouble or leave him in to fix his own problems.   I just prefer to get guys out to fight another day and give me a chance to win today's game.

That's along the line of what I was thinking. Reduce the amount of time he is out there, monitor any improvements, and then slowing increase PC (and possibly bullpen call rating). I just wasn't sure. I guess I'll just need to tweak and track the results.

1) It's a small sample size.  Crosby's ERA should regress to about 4.70 in that park, Melian's to about 4.00.
2) My (1) assumes your defense is OK-- do you have a solid defense?
3) I'd drop their PCs-- Crosby to 60/70 and Melian to 80/90-- and raise Crosby's pull rating to 4.  Melian should still be better than most of your bullpen, and should still have a pull of 2 for that reason.

Thats pretty much what I did dedelman. Lets see what happens.
