http://whatifsports.com/hd/TeamProfile/Ratings.aspx?tid=14324. I think I have great LP players for a zone. Just wondering some people's input on zone as to why this team is under achieving or are they

Yeah depth and talent at the 4 and 5. I calculate their def value with ath, sb, def. Then Check reb... I like to have 90+sb at the C spot. Great recruiting terps.

This is confusing.  I'm not sure what you mean by "great LP players for a zone."  Zone is your defense, not your offense.

Your guards are a huge disadvantage. They're young and pretty bad honestly.  Your bigs are good (Parks is sick) but everybody can just play extreme minus defenses because you have no shooting or guard play.  You badly need some scoring balance, and some better guards. Don't forget about speed with your guards in the zone. Sitemail me if you have any questions come recruiting next season.

The area of the court, not the attribute.  The low post exists on both ends of the floor.

Yeah, guards win in this game. Bigs are almost interchangeable in comparison. By that I mean the difference in a good guard to an elite guard is night and day; you have to gameplan against an elite guard. The difference in a good big to an elite (based on attribute numbers) big is really not that much.

Your bigs are pretty great. Unfortunately, the sim doesn't care that much about bigs

Yes. Another term is frontcourt

Thank you michgoblue and milwood. I focused so much on my frontcourt, def reb sb , that it looks like I let my backcourt slip.

You also have low athleticism for most of your big even with their high cores rates. 40s is too low for d2

As far as I can tell, there's a way to make bigs into effective scorers (at D2, anyway), and it's pretty specific.

1. Of course, they need to have at least decent numbers in the "scoring" cluster of attributes - ATH and LP, mainly, but SPD and BH help more than one might think, SPD in particular.

2. STAMINA.  It's tough to get a significant number of points out of a big if he's only on the court taking shots for 22 minutes per game.  There are tons of bigs who look like they ought to be strong scorers... and have a 73 stamina.  Actually, maybe this one should be called "Keeping him on the court", and should include good defense so your big keeps himself out of foul trouble.  He can't score from the bench.

3. You need lots of passing.  Your big isn't bringing the ball up, so somebody has to get it into his hands.  It's a lot easier to get him shots if you have multiple littles who can really pass the ball.

Understandably, many coaches focus mainly on #1.  However, #2 and #3 are really significant factors.

I had that guy in a zone, and he did fairly well. He never had athleticism, never was good in defense, but his SB, REB and LP skills kept him in the game. He commanded double teamed a lot because I could get 30 out of him in some games. His last season, he averaged 18.7 on .475 FG%. With a good ATH rating, he would have been the focal point of an offense. I think the LP rating is really important.

I scnd the notion that speed and a
Little per can go a long way in getting a high scoring big.
