A player of mine cleared waivers. I attempted to demote him to AAA and got the following message:


Error: None of your roster moves could be added due to the following reasons:

You are attempting to outright Alex Balboa to the minor leagues. He has the choice of becoming a free agent instead of accepting the assignment. We asked the player what he would do and he responded that he would elect to become a free agent. You may either keep him on your roster or release him.

If I release him, am I on the hook for his salary?

Ugh, so he can clear waivers and refuse a demotion thus holding a big league spot hostage?

Yep, pretty much. If he has a long term contract, you can either try to trade him for cat food, or find a role for him on your BL roster.

Put him back on your BL roster and designate him.

What will this do?

If you designate him then you have to assign him or after 10 days he will automatically be released right?
