tips on fastbreak/zone for this team? Topic

so i just took over this Arizona team in smith. it's my first time ever using fastbreak and my first time using zone in quite awhile. i'm not intending to stick with these sets, but i'm stuck with them for now, and i want to make the best with what i got this season.

i've already searched the forums and also read the recent fastbreak thread for general tips, and I've tried to implement some of these. still, i'm not getting the results i expect. i do realize the small sample size, but including the exhibitions (which i took took seriously), my team seems to be struggling with or losing to some teams that, on paper, i thought should be fairly secure wins based solely on ratings, IQ, matchups, etc.

any suggestions on what i could do to improve my gameplanning, depth chart, etc? thanks!

Fastbreak zone doesn't work very well. Had it for awhile and switched to motion. Now contemplating switching from zone to man.

Ok. Here is my 2 cents. I would play Zweig at center if playing 2-3, he has better blk and ath then your other bigs. C stands alone in 2-3. As far as fb, I would utilize kleinberg more on offense. He has good bh and good ft. I think fb zone would be good, you won't run into fatigue problems. Also don't be afraid to double team on defense. I would say you distro is not balanced, buf I don't think uou have much choice

Ok, so for people who have run fastbreak/zone before - on fastbreak teams I usually like having some good stamina. On zone teams, while I still like it, I prioritize it a little less. So on a fastbreak/zone team is it right in the middle, more the zone short roster and stamina model or more the deep roster fastbreak model?

I would say you could run 10 deep with out a issue

If anything, I think the zone trumps the FB in regards to stamina.   I was forced to run the combo last season when I took over the Vols and was quite surprised.  We ran 9 deep and only had 2 guys above 85 stamina with everyone else being mid to high 70's.  NEVER had a fatigue issue.
