Budget Reset To 10 Topic

Some GMs who are currently at 0 ADV will look for ways to get to 14 in 1 season instead of waiting for and paying for 4 seasons.  We can debate the merits and ethics, but it's going to happen.

So there might as well be a tread on that topic -

If the same WIS user takes over the team after rollover, but before the season starts, are the budgets kept the same, or reset to 10?

If late renewal does not reset budgets, worlds / commissioners will have to decide if they will allow GMs to not renew their team, create a new WIS account, and then claim the team using that account.  Because that will set all budgets at 10 (6-14) in one season.

If someone creates multiple WIS accounts (to use a discount code or whatever) will WIS merge those accounts into one if asked?  I'm sure some GMs will value their history and want just one account, but many will be fine having 2+ user accounts.

I'm all for WIS making this change.  ADV and player development are not the best features of HBD.  All actions have counter actions and consequences.  Probably best world and WIS rules and procedures are defined before the change goes live.

1) Kept the same.  You would need to alias to change the budgets.
2) I'm sure some owners will create an alias to try to work around the budget change limits.  Commissioners will have to decide if they're OK with that.
3) Aliasing happens a lot in Hoops Dynasty.  WiS will not merge accounts.

Creating an alias seems really extreme to me, even if adv does turn out to be useful (which is far from certain at this point). Sure, you can get your adv number up to 14, but is that worth starting over at 14 training and medical?

I'm sure there will be some people who overreact and do this, but I doubt it will be a winning strategy. I'm planning to stay at 0 adv until I see any actual evidence that I need to do otherwise. Anyway, I'm sure the 3 seasons it takes to get up to a high adv level won't make of break a team.

I think it depends on the depth of the change, if WIS is just going to muddy Advanced scouting then I don't think they should reset the budget, however if they are going to change advanced scouting to be the main effect on HS/COLL/INT scouting then I think consideration should be taken into resetting the budgets.

I don't think aliases will be common, I think what will be more common is owners who are not as attached to their teams moving on to a new team, for a few seasons you may see a larger turnover than normal. That will also depend on how much and how advanced scouting is changes.

I didn't think too many people would do this, but I think I've already seen one. In one of my worlds, a guy who has been there for a very long time just posted that he's not coming back next season, but that he wants the world password so that his "friend" can take over for him.

The thing is, he's at 20 training, so he's going to lose that. He's also at 16 college scouting and due for a mid first round pick. So he is now less likely to get a good college player, and when he does, that player won't develop as well. Pretty questionable decision, in my opinion.

One, maybe, doesn't suggest this will become an epidemic.

Especially since we don't know where the update will leave ADV on the spectrum from Slightly More Useful:Essential.

No, and I don't mean to give that impression. I actually don't think this will be incredibly commons, at least not among particularly experienced/successful players, for the reasons I gave above.

I just thought it was amusing that someone is already trying this.
