Sorriest move ever? Topic

What about a guy who comes in and takes over as a replacement owner for a playoff team at the end of the season (like the playoffs have already started), collects the playoff credits and then after rollover says "I need this season for another one of my worlds that has rolled", and bails?

That's gotta be one of the most lowdown moves ever right?

That is pretty dirty.. I think that is part of the reason why they only allow one transfer per owner..  I've seen it happen a couple times but havent called anybody out on it... I figure that if somebody is doing that they must really need the $4..

I take on a lot of replacement teams, but when I do I always make it very clear to the commish that I'm not committing to anything beyond the current season, and if they are looking for a long term owner, then they should consider me as just a fallback option if they can't find anybody else.

But to lead the commish on that you're going to stick around, and then bail as soon as you collect the credits . . . yeah, that's a pretty ****** move.

Thing is he stayed until after rollover. So it isn't like he bailed right away, but he had to leave to use the season for another of his worlds that rolled? This world would be down to 1 opening had he stayed.

The other thing is the team had already been eliminated from the playoffs, so there wasn't any need to get a replacement at all, but the commish wanted to try to get someone in there pre-rollover to allow the new owner to keep budgets.

That's the part that seems like a douchebag move to me.

Nah, my guy is a bigger douchebag.  You lose one ****** owner.  The world is better for that.   My guy sticks around and 'tards up the world with his actions.

Yeah, people that tank teams are much worse than people that leave leagues.

I had decided I wanted a second team so I took over in the 'NHL league'. The team was horrible and pitching at all levels was 0(0). It took a miracle but I got the team up to 50 wins. In the offseason the league mutinied, booted Shobob as comish and changed the league from NHL teams to something else. I legit feel bad that I got the $5 frequent season credit but this was not what I signed up for, so I left.

How about you complain about the quality of worlds, get a recommendation on a good world, join, and then proceed to tank/neglect the team?

Isn't that the sort of thing that drags down the quality of worlds?
Who would do such a thing?

I'll give you a hint.   He posted in this thread before I did.

Question - I took over a neglected team in a league mid-season and am in the process of fixing their roster - after a 3-23 start, they won 2 straight right when I showed up. However, I'm still on the fence on coming back next season due to the dichotomy of team strength in the league - sketchy move or no?

Absolutely not.

Taking over as a replacement is YOU doing the WORLD a favor.

What I was mentioning in the OP was that the season was already OVER. There was NO NEED to rush a replacement in. The commish was just proactive in getting someone in so they could keep budgets, and as an extra bonus the new owner would get a playoff credit.

In that unique set of circumstances I think bailing after rollover is pretty sketchy.
