I just saw somebody answer this not too long ago, and now I can't remember where; If one of your players has decided to become a free agent, how much over his current demands to you have to offer him in order to get him to re-sign with you?

20% worked for me today. Thought that was the amount but didn't post because I couldn't find confirmation anywhere with a few searches. Player wanted $4.6M*2. I offered $15.6*3 and he signed on the next cycle.

I stepped it up starting at 20%, in 5% increments. He was tough.

He wanted 4 years. I offered 4 years with a mutual option. Maybe that's why it took 40%.
